There's going to be a lot about AI in the UK press today. This is your reminder that AI does not equal LLMs and generative AI. They are a subset of a vast field but get a lot of exposure due to their accessibility. There are many other fields that have been providing practical solutions for decades.

I'm curious as to why many of these interviews/soundbites appear to catch him when he's heading into a toilet.

Today's AWS outage shows again how much of the stuff we rely on runs through a particular data center in the US. I'm running a lot of client projects on AWS, thankfully nothing in us-east-1 which seems to always be the one that has problems. I do need to diversify though, don't like being tied in.

So it seems the climate discourse has shifted from "How can we avoid 1.5C?" to "How can we best mitigate the effects of 2C in the next few decades and 4C by the end of the century?"
A 2'C rise brings a much greater chance of floods, droughts, heatwaves and wildfires.
We've already started seeing these extremes of weather. UK needs to prepare for much worse.

So it seems the climate discourse has shifted from "How can we avoid 1.5C?" to "How can we best mitigate the effects of 2C in the next few decades and 4C by the end of the century?"
Whilst I'm no fan of the monarchy and would love to see them become less relevant (and not state funded). I can see this stance being too much of a red line for a lot of voters.
