Saturday evening through Sunday morning still looks to be the worst travel time of the holiday weekend in NW Ohio/SE Michigan... plan your route and timing accordingly! 3-5" of snow expected in Toledo, 5-8" farther northwest. 🚗❄️

Our outlook has not changed much for the evening round of storms. As plenty more wind shear gets delivered along the warm front lifting north, that should provide enough of a kick for high winds, hail, and tornadoes to form along the cold front sweeping east (6pm-midnight in NW Ohio/SE Michigan).

WED, APR 2: Storm Prediction Center and probabilistic forecasts continue to sound alarms for a potentially significant and widespread severe weather outbreak from the Great Lakes to the South on Wednesday. Tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall all possible.

An active stretch for severe thunderstorms is expected over the next several day. Some areas across the central U.S. will see multiple days of potentially significant severe thunderstorms.

Putting a plug out there for an incredible weather app (EverythingWx) that was developed by Cory Mottice (Warning Coordination Meteorologist at NWS Corpus Christi)

It’s ad free, pulls information directly from the National Weather Service, and has a beautiful design!

A reminder that you can see the total lunar eclipse peak around 3am Friday morning... if you're up early (or late) enough! Mostly clear skies expected here in Toledo for that orange/blood-red moon.

“My weather app does it better!”

-Weather Watches/Warnings? NWS
-Forecast data? NWS
-Observations? NWS
-Satellite? NOAA/NESDIS
-Futurecast modeling data? You guessed it, NWS (via EMC).
-Climatology data? The weather data compiled over a long period by techs.
-Outlooks? NWS

Food for thought. 💭

Only slight adjustments from yesterday... and most of us are still in for a difficult commute tonight/Thursday morning in NW Ohio/SE Michigan. 👇

It's a busy graphic because it has to be! Our most likely scenario is a thin area of ice with snow mixing in just south of the Maumee River tomorrow, with 2-4" snow for Lucas County (and up to 7" by the time you get NW to Hillsdale).

Here's what's changed since this morning for our midweek ice event:

* The bullseye of 0.25"+ has shifted south back into Ohio, specifically west of Toledo. That's about the accumulation point where broken branches and power outages become more concerning due to weight stress. (1/2)

No big changes this week, though the lack of snowpack has seen our temps in the cold stretch rise by a few degrees each... still makes for our coldest air in 6 years in Toledo.
