In response real lovers of free speech should attach the adjective rapist to Trump as often as possible. Streisand the heck out of this settlement by rapist Trump with craven ABC.
All the ‘Free Speech!’ centrists, leftists-turned-conservatives, Intellectual Dark Web types will have nothing to say about this dangerous and authoritarian trend. (They’re too busy policing placards at campus protests.)
Trump and His Picks Threaten More Lawsuits Over Critical Coverage
The small flurry of threatened defamation suits is the latest sign that the incoming Trump administration appears poised to do what it can to crack down on unfavorable media coverage.

Lot of institutions discrediting themselves under Trump.

Nobel Peace Prize has history of problematic picks, but instant embarassment as this year's winner cheers on Trump murder of civilian boat occupants in Caribbean without trial

"A clan of pedophiles"

Good summary of the Trump administration as #Epstein'sList becomes an international byword for Trump murdering people to keep his crimes from being exposed.
🇨🇴 #PresidentOfColombia #GustavoPetro:

"A clan of pedophiles wants to destroy our democracy.

To keep #Epstein'sList from coming out, they send warships to kill fishermen and threaten our neighbor with invasion for their oil.

They want to turn the region into another #Lybia, full of slaves"

Social Democrats continue decline as the fascist AFD gets support by nearly twice as many German voters now.

Dems have their traitor wing - but they are doing infinitely better challenging the rising fascist Right then most left-leaning parties across Europe.
Germany, Forsa poll:

AfD-ESN: 26%
CDU/CSU-EPP: 24%
SPD-S&D: 14%
GRÜNE-G/EFA: 12%
LINKE-LEFT: 11% (-1)
FDP-RE: 3%
BSW-NI: 3%

+/- vs. 28 October - 03 November 2025

Strange how that is exactly how Obamacare works.

People go into a marketplace and choose the policy thwy want.

Does Trump mean he wants to restore plans that discrimate against people with preexisting conditions?
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Argument of the traitor Sen Dems seems to be "we are dealing with a a sociopath who wants to starve children and deny people health care out of spite and hate - so reopened the govt to keep him from shooting more hostages"

Not insane position but it's still giving the sociopath what he wanted.

Always telling people the poor are stealing their cookies to distract them from the oligarchs stealing their jobs, their homes and their democracy.
Comer: "This is a fake economy. You can't have 1/3 of America receiving some type of free government healthcare and then have another 1/3 that's getting a subsidized rate. That falls on the final 1/3 that's having to pay increased premiums."

Mamdani’s win powered by energetic grassroots, and if state powerbrokers use limits on city authority to try to squash it, that will galvanize supporters to push for fundamental changes in state- which will cascade into large national impacts as well. /1

Mamdani's Victory Will be More Significant than Pundits Expect
Many think Mamdani will be constrained by NY politics; instead, those constraints will force his movement to remake New York- and national Democratic politics in the process

This by Josh is right. Grassroots anger forced Dems to fight than many wanted to - and result made clear GOP doesn't give a shit about health care & wants to starve people to death.

Yes, many we need to primary but team fight did better than expected.

That the number was the EXACT eight votes needed - and are retiring or not up for reelection in 2026 - reflects that Schumer and a bunch of others supported the deal, but are pretending not to so they can get reelected or hold onto power.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

This litmus test should apply to every Democrat including @ossoff.bsky.social and others who are running for re-election next year.
Warner is up for reelection. He was widely seen driving towards surrender behind the scenes, but he's voting no in public because it's unpopular. The real question is whether he supports a senate leadership change. If not, someone who supports senate leadership change should primary him.
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.
November 10, 2025 at 2:39 AM
No vote will happen in the House and Trump would veto any bill that did pass.

So Durbin et al negotiated for NOTHING. NADA.
Q: Will you assure House Democrats they'll get a vote on ACA subsidies by a date certain?

MIKE JOHNSON: Ah -- no. I'm not promising anyone anything.
November 10, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Pelosi is retiring and Schumer's ineffectual leadership highlights why Pelosi was the greatest House Dem leader in history- because while she wheeled and dealed and made concessions to moderates, on every tough vote that mattered she kept Dems united.

Schumer is just a crap leader.
November 10, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Durbin is elected Democratic Whip - and is supposed to be one pushing others to vote the party line.

That he defied the caucus to vote yes means he should resign his leadership position or be voted out.

Again if Dems let him stay in leadership, this is on the caucus not just on the traitors.
Schumer is either complicit or an ineffectual leader on the most important vote as Senate Party leader.

Either way, he should be voted out TOMORROW by the rest of the caucus.

And the rest of the caucus is complicit if they keep Schumer in power.
BREAKING: Senators have reached a deal to end the government shutdown.
November 10, 2025 at 1:50 AM
Whatever good Durbin may have done as Senator, the first line of his political obituary is he betrayed his country on the most important vote of his career. Just a complete piece of trash for all eternity.
Durbin is a YES on this deal: “At Democrats’ urging, today’s bill is not the same one we’ve voted down 14 times. Republicans finally woke up and realized their Groundhog Day needed to end. This bill is not perfect, but it takes important steps to reduce their shutdown’s hurt.”
November 10, 2025 at 1:45 AM
To be clear Fetterman is an asshole but is morally better in supporting caving from the beginning, compared to the Dems who inflicted massive suffering on the American people - then caved out of cowardice now getting nothing.
Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
November 10, 2025 at 1:29 AM

Well, Newsom wants a chance at running for President, since no one who supports it has a long-term future in any position of leadership in the Party

Booker has obviously given up hopes of the Presidency if he votes for this deal
November 10, 2025 at 12:42 AM
The issue is not the Dems voting for this rancid deal.

It's the other Dems who voted to keep Schumer running the caucus and keep these traitors in key leadership positions to negotiate this surrender.

Primary any Dem who won't promise to vote in new Senate leadership.
Deal WOULD NOT extend Obamcare subsidies and would just include a promised vote that GOP could still FILIBUSTER - meaning would need 13 Republicans to pass.

Primary every f------ Democrat who votes for such a deal.

Dem caucus should fire Schumer & strip rest of their committee positions.

So far, the Trump administration has:
* Asked Supreme Court not to force them to pay full SNAP benefits
* Told states to stop paying full SNAP benefits
* And told grocery stores to stop offering discounts to families cut off from SNAP benefits

Trump might as well be dressed as Marie Antoinette

Graham is right - take all the money going to insurance subsidies and enroll everyone in Medicare, have them pay their current premiums to the government, and the result would no doubt be cheaper, better health care.

Glad Graham has joined the Medicare for All movement.
Translation: “We will let your health care premiums skyrocket and have no plan to help alleviate the pain”
November 9, 2025 at 3:44 PM
The rest of the Dem caucus should - and I hope are saying - that if any Dem breaks solidarity to support GOP, they should be stripped of leadership - including Schumer himself.

Schumer needs to go in any case. Just an embarassment at this point.
SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

Seems like a lot of antisemitism going on at IU.

MAGA is both pro-Israel and antisemitic - and this story is just one example of how that works
This is fairly infuriating. Indiana U abruptly got rid of the Jewish director of the Jewish studies program, replacing him with a non-Jewish scholar, Günther Jikeli. Jikeli then defunded a Jewish graduate student who has been critical of Israel.

In Indiana, a vaunted Jewish studies program is upended by red-state politics over Israel and speech - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
A leadership shakeup, a defunded graduate student and political pressure from above have turned a storied program into a flashpoint for Trump-era campus politics.
