With Tuesday’s election, window for dramatic change may be opening. Mamdani’s triumph has potential to be not just a local event but catalyst for broader political realignment in New York. Several converging forces could make progressive breakthrough possible – even likely – in the coming years. /8

Well, Newsom wants a chance at running for President, since no one who supports it has a long-term future in any position of leadership in the Party
Booker has obviously given up hopes of the Presidency if he votes for this deal

See what happens on appeal, but this seems like an incredibly big court win with Judge Ellis enjoining use of force by ICE that includes "all chilling of First Amendment activity"

So Trump administration is threatening to fine food stores who offer discounts to SNAP recipients
MAGA revels in torturing low-income families and hurting them in every way possible, even attacking anyone who offers help to them in a time of crisis.

In June, I noted Harris in 2024 received more votes than ALL center-left parties COMBINED in Europe, despite EU having more people.
Bunch of center-left parties have rushed to "center" & into political oblivion.
Dems should instead build on what's working

Trump's monomaniacal focus on deporting mostly non-criminal immigrants has crippled actual law enforcement - and led to this plunge in prosecutions.
Dems are very much missing the chance to hit Trump hard on fact his racist obsession has made him soft on crime.

Most people on SNAP work - but aren't paid enough.
No coincidence that SNAP rolls have expanded in the same time that the federal minimum wage has not increased since 2009 - the longest period without an increase since the minimum wage was created.

I really hope a third option appears, since Janet Mills - while good on some issues - is disqualified both by supporting the filibuster and supporting the genocide in Gaza.

Only handful of competitive trans athletes iso issue doesn't "worry" almost anyone.
But GOP know is seems wrong to some people - and if you associate opponents with one thing a voter doesn't like, it makes them distrust those opponemts on issues that "matter."
So East Wing demolition matters.

These companies feel free because of monopoly dominance to divert piles of cash from their core businesses into new AI ventures. The costs of this is not just a bubble in AI but neglect of customers in those original sectors, leading to what Cory Doctorow calls enshitification of those markets /13

The same companies—Alphabet/Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta—already monopolize much of our digital and economic lives. And they are using the cash extracted from those monopoly positions to fuel the AI bubble. /12

Some argue we don’t have to worry about a bubble bursting because leading tech stocks have stronger balance sheets than dot-com companies. But that is the problem: we were able to accelerate into bubble because monopoly players can throw massive cash reserves around like, well Monopoly money /10

Almost all growth in stock market is now in those AI-related stocks. Reuters cites a calculation that the gains in NVIDIA, Microsoft, Broadcom, Meta, Alphabet, Amazon, Palantir, and Oracle together have accounted for around half of the whole S&P 500’s gain in 2025. /5

Due to domestic concerns, Petro has relatively low public approval in Colombia, so Trump has stepped in to rally support for Petro and his party, as Trump has in multiple other countries from Canada to Brazil where standing up to Trump attacks has lifted public support for leaders.
