Watching the chat on the House Clerk's YouTube channel of the floor proceedings for the Epstein vote is...interesting.

Duo Mobile, my employe’s 2 factor authentication system just asked if I’m “enjoying“ the app.

Who the heck says yes to that question?

The only reason I’m sorry to see this is that Diego Pavia won’t get to beat Hugh Freeze one last time
SOURCES: Auburn has fired head coach Hugh Freeze, @theathletic.com has learned.

Comes one day after a 10-3 loss to Kentucky to fall to 1-5 in SEC play. DJ Durkin will be the interim head coach.

It’s wild how natural it seems to have the LA Governor making decisions on LSU football and how unique that is. DeWine weighing in on Ryan Day? Andy Beshear identifying Calipari’s replacement? Those would be crazy. But LSU football is its own thing

This is why we need independent student media, but if a university is going to actually be involved, then it needs to respect its limits under the First Amendment.
Indiana University has fired the staff director of the student newspaper, after disputes in which university leadership tried to pressure him to prevent students from publishing news.

This is good journalism. I'm shocked that they were actually allowed to run this story.
Our personal tech columnist @geoffreyfowler.bsky.social tracked the prices of a bunch of items on Amazon ahead of the latest Prime Day sale.

Turns out only a few prices went down, many stayed the same... and several went significantly *up.* www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

Here’s what you should do to actually get a good deal on Amazon.

What @jonmladd.bsky.social says is correct. But the thing that stands out to me is that the cooption and capitulation *hasn't* increased Republicans' media trust.
At the time, scholars of this topic noted that, in Trump's first term, the independence of institutional media orgs from him went with a surge in trust in the media from Democrats. Major media org's cooption and capitulation in Trump's second term has gone with a drop in Democrats' media trust.

Im begging the NYT to spend time talking to people who actually teach and work at universities. Especially ones that don't have billion dollar endowments.

My issues are AI use, crumbling infrastructure, vanishing staff, unfunded state mandates, a customer service model of education...

One of the many things that this era’s postmortem will have to account for is that this kind of criticism is coming from sports websites (the Ringer, Defector, etc) and fashion magazines (Teen Vogue) than from the mainstream media outlets of record.

This has been my favorite Bluesky argument for a long time. A column (accurately) says that Arteta is too risk averse, and a more aggressive lineup likely could have beaten Liverpool because of defensive frailties.
Any manager who has 12 or more fit players from which to pick a team of 11 has selection issues. Arne Slot had selection issues too - he took a punt and his "gamble" pinged one into the top corner from 32 yards out. Fancy that.
