this is a weird time to market books—and maybe a vitally important time to share stories. RAVISHING💄💉✨ is about things under attack: being brown, disability, trauma, and community. it comes out 11.11.2025 but you can preorder it now for 25% off at b&n 💕

Is anyone else on StoryGraph? I’d like to know what y’all are reading. I only started using it this year, but it’s a solid app that’s not owned by Jeff Bezos. My username is: nancynguyen135

MONDAY — It’s #2025Pit

Are you an unagented writer who has completed a manuscript?

Are you in search of a literary agent?

Great, on Monday I’m hosting a pitch event here on BlueSky I hope will connect authors & agents who may like to work together.

How does this work? Glad you asked!

So I’ve started this habit where when I get overwhelmed by doomscrolling, I turn to books, and so far, I’ve read 7 books in the month of January. :’)

I’m reading stories from the most recent BASS anthology, and “Valley of the Moon” by Paul Yoon absolutely destroyed me. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

I wish more awards considered short fic collections. Not only do I enjoy reading them, but I also think a lot of stories fall under the radar, especially when the author is still unknown. Collections can bring those stories back into the light so they can finally get some recognition.

Ended 2024 and began 2025 by reading two really good books: The Five Wounds by Kristin Valdez-Quade and The Storm We Made by Vanessa Chan.

The most effective editing move is still the one I stole from George Saunders: read your draft over and over and over again, out loud, until you have to fix the bad parts because you will literally die if you have to read them more time

Rising from the dead to say that I passed my preliminary exam for my PhD!!! I read 100 books about the short story form, Asian American lit, and creative writing pedagogy and took a written/oral exam. I am so, so tired but so proud of myself.
