here's the thing about AI book covers/art/design/etc. what you "save" by not paying a real artist, you lose in sales from people who won't buy your work or demand a refund if it has AI in it. you also lose out on free marketing people might have done to promo that work had you not slapped AI on it

watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a backyard with a bunch of queer friends won’t solve all the world’s problems but it will make you forget about them for a couple hours and honestly that’s enough. I felt muscles in my body release that I didn’t even know were clenched

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

every year I get myself an online pass to this film festival, and every year I'm awed by the environmental films in the program. this year, I've watched films about:

- sea turtles nesting in the Nicobar Islands
- winter wildlife habits in Yosemite
- ice climbing in a glacier's crevasse
- & more!

How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
