If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about the answers
This is an old story in DC. Far too many members of Congress use votes like this on DC to trumpet their "tough on crime" stance. As a former resident of DC, it makes me furious.
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

To recap: My law firm represented Black and Latino voters in striking down Texas' new congressional map.

The dissenting opinion mentions George Soros 17 times and me and my law firm 3 times (all about how connected to Soros I allegedly am). I have never seen anything like it.
In a remarkable and deeply unconventional dissent, U.S. Circuit Judge Jerry E. Smith unleashed a blistering and bizarre attack on his fellow judges after a federal court struck down Texas’ unconstitutional racial gerrymander. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

NOW: Chief Judge Boasberg is holding a hearing in the Alien Enemies Act, and announces that he does plan on continuing the contempt proceedings.

He believes that will entail having people testify, but is asking the parties for their positions.

“Justice requires me to move promptly on this.”

"He is a man who has power and believes that he is entitled to convert that power into sex. That is such a standard way for men to operate that even other men who do not behave that way treat guys who do as normal and legitimate." Elie Mystal on Larry Summers: www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Wow. I listen to podcasts regularly and I don't listen to any of these. And wouldn't. And it's not just that I'm old and picky. I mean, with movies and TV I might see some of what was nominated. They picked such a narrow slice of what's available.
The list of eligible podcasts is looking pretty bleak 😟

I, too, have never written roman-a-clef fiction about an affair with one of the worst humans in the world. First, my novels aren't roman-a-clef. Secondly, even the men in my life who were bad choices do not come close to being THAT bad
I just want to go out and say that my fiction isn't a roman-a-clef of my affair with one of the worst human beings in the world. I wouldn't ever sleep with one of the worst human beings in the world. Buy books that aren't roman-a-clefs of having sex with one of the worst human beings in the world.
