So they're going to do this for one, maybe two games. It'll be full speed ahead until it's 6 months from release and the game is falling apart, at which point they'll pay an insane overtime rate for a QA studio to do it last minute which won't be enough.

Follow up on this. I decided to voice my thoughts in the announcement post on Instagram and reached out to who I could to see about fixing this in the future for TIVA.

Here’s the reason I spoke to so many video game actors. I attended the launch of TIVA, an independently run audiobook series with all of your favourite voice actors, aiming to fight back against AI and corporations, featuring an all female/non-binary cast.

The fact that the few genuinely nice people in the industry stand out like a sore thumb because it tends to go the exact opposite route is sooo telling.
Being basically decent and kind while also successful and everyone treats you like some kind of mythical being.
It should be the default.

I love my job, I’m grateful for what I’m able to get and I never wanna quit. But seeing people do all of that and succeed far beyond what I could ever dream to do while I’m struggling as much as I am, it makes me wonder if I’m too nice for this job lmao.

Every time I post "the VO industry has monsters that will literally hide under your bed and eat your face while you sleep" I stop to think maybe I'm complaining for no good reason but then inevitably half a dozen VAs will reply "can confirm, they ate my face" and it's like, oh dear it's justified.

I believe all voice actors deserve to be treated with respect and paid a fair wage
I believe this to be true even of the ones who have actively hurt me and my friends to get ahead.
I want that for all voice actors.
But these specific individuals often don't want that for anyone but themselves.

CDs get to do whatever they want and face no repercussions whatsoever. There's just no power there so ppl will say or do anything to keep their heads above water, at least publicly. And nobody outside VO knows anything.

The fact that people have been fired for striking - no, not just the ones who were "mean" to certain actors who blatantly scabbed - is insane.
AI is already an existential threat to this industry. It doesn't need anyone standing behind it with a megaphone shouting their support.

Ultimately it's broad casting decisions at play that my gripes are with, like "we control all the anime dubbing so if you want a role you need to live in a state where you can't use public restrooms" or "striking against AI? well now you're fired due to 'creative differences'"

This reply that I quoted pointed to the anti-trans UK govt's lack of funding trans health as a primary reason for why it's bad.
This is not true. It is policy that the NHS attempts to dissuade and eventually bar you from transitioning at every turn. More money would simply let them do that quicker.

As a trans woman trying my best in the current VO scene, it's really disheartening to already know in advance that there's a good chance that I'm not even going to be considered by a lot of projects just for the fact that even self proclaimed inclusive casts don't have a place for trans gals.
