I've launched a new interview series on women in esports! My first piece is with G2 Hel's Caltys, but I've already spoken to several more participants. If anyone feels they have a unique perspective worth sharing, then feel free to email me. www.thegamer.com/women-esport...

Tell me you didn’t read the 1,600 word interview with 11 members of the cast without telling me you didn’t read the 1,600 word interview with 11 members of the cast.
The problem with breathlessly reporting a press release with some names you recognize in it is you don't stop to realize what this actually is:

A dude wrote some scifi/fantasy, has money, is hiring a bunch of nerd-famous women/femme nonbinary actors to voice his writings as podcast-audiobooks.
Here’s the reason I spoke to so many video game actors. I attended the launch of TIVA, an independently run audiobook series with all of your favourite voice actors, aiming to fight back against AI and corporations, featuring an all female/non-binary cast.

This is a fantastic project with an amazing cast! Sam has been working hard on this for a bit. So so great to see women and non-binary people championed in an industry that can often feel like it is not made for us at all

I also spoke to Lae’zel actor Devora Wilde who told me how Baldur’s Gate 3 made her realise games could tell “proper stories”, and how it’s one of the best things she’s ever acted in.

Last week, I had the honour of attending an event with many of gaming's top actors. You'll find out what the event was for in the near future, and I'll have another larger report from it, but I also used it as an opportunity to discuss the many injustices video game actors still face.

Just binge-listened to three episodes of Critical Error while Pokemoning. While I don’t always necessarily agree with everything, these are two incredibly intelligent, articulate, and engaging gentlemen and you owe it to yourself to listen.

This is such a bummer. TheGamer basically let me write whatever jokes I wanted about whoever I wanted in the video game industry - to the point of getting legal threats. Few places give freelancers that much freedom. It’s sad to see so many good staff writers and editors let go.
Valnet unfortunately let go of the entire TheGamer features team today alongside several other staff members.

Many incredibly talented and hard working writers I've had the pleasure of working with over the past several years.

Several of my colleagues were laid off today, and seeing the usual reaction from the usual people pushed me to write a blog post (how retro) about the sad state of online discourse: jackcrustycoleman.com/2025/10/22/l...
Layoffs, Empathy and Blind Hatred
An unfortunate state of affairs.

Unfortunately, my time as an Editor for TheGamer.com has come to an end.

I met some of the best coworkers I've ever had there, I learned and grew a lot.

If anyone is looking for a journo, especially for guides, reviews, VR, horror, and farming RPGs, I'd love to hear from you.

In light of being laid off from TheGamer today, I don't intend to let my passions die out. I'll continue to create work independently, and keep that excitement for whatever opportunities come my way in the future.

This was a dream career, and I'm not done with it yet.

Another fun TGS piece just dropped.

I spoke to Tomohiko Sho, one of the creators of the Musou genre, to reminisce about the past 25 years of Dynasty Warriors and what the series has become.

Some really interesting quotes from one of the nicest devs out there.

I see games media old guard are doing the “let’s shit on the newer folks rather than offering to support them” thing again. I’m tired. As if there’s not enough aggression towards us from audiences.
