Calling all Australians who want safer healthcare: please consider completing this brief survey. Even if you simply answer "bring back masks in healthcare" for every question, that would be a huge help. 🙏

The deadline for the Canadian Respirator Standard is fast approaching. If you'd like to make a submission, here's an excellent resource:

If a health care worker can see I'm wearing a respirator and doesn't offer to put one on themselves, asking them to wear one is only ever counter productive ime.

I have no interest in wasting my limited energy on arguing with someone with a duty of care who is willfully looking away from eugenics.

Hospitals should be safe.

Patients and their carers shouldn’t have to fight for infection prevention.

If you work in healthcare, wear a mask.

If you’re going to a hospital, wear a mask.

If you see your patient masking, don’t accuse them of anxiety. Don’t try and make them take off their mask. Don’t punish them with substandard care.

Doctors and healthcare professionals: there are consequences to your actions.
Airborne pathogens are often transmitted asymptomatically. Choose to protect your patients by wearing a well-fitting N95 mask.

To be clear, this understanding went against decades of aerosol science assumptions. As such, we knew that we needed to prove this. And so, we did. We altered the CO2 levels in the air and found that increasing the acid content of the air (CO2) led to an increase in aerostability.

We just had an article published in ACS Central Science on the how the pH of exhaled aerosol evolves over time.

As we’ve previously reported, respiratory aerosol pH (high pH!) is a driver of SARS-CoV-2 decay. Meaning, understanding the pH dynamics is important for estimating risk.
