It's great to see 2000+ people have signed @covidactionnz.bsky.social's clean air in schools campaign. This song was written as a thank you to all who have signed. Please encourage others to sign too. Indoor clean air makes a difference for health, attendance, and learning.

In the coming days some people may mine our cherished ally's passing for attention, but grief is not a competition. Let's try to welcome the chance to mourn together, instead.

Holding tonight the idea that ancestors just leveled up.

So sad to hear of the passing of author and activist Alice Wong.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

I've had heavy winds and computer issues to contend with today, but sharing this song in support of everyone in AoNZ in the mega-strike. I think we need 21st century protest songs. Happy to post a blue sky on Bluesky.

Striking? Wear a mask.

From Sir Mason Durie's Te Whare Tapa Whā model for health describing health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls sitting on the land (whenua). The two walls here are:
Taha tinana - physical health/the body.
Taha whānau - belonging - community & family.

While the government may be pushing back saying this is about money, it includes nurses' concerns about staffing levels and safety. Healthcare in NZ needs protecting rather than dismantling and privatising.

It's not just about salary, it's about working conditions. At ACA we believe teachers and students deserve clean air classrooms, adequate sick leave, and access to vaccines and antivirals. We don't accept the "new normal" of constant sickness and teachers quitting the profession due to Long Covid.
