The best thing about moving is when a friend you haven't seen in five years shows up with boxes.

The annual PLR has been such a benefit to writers (me included!!). I love the annual flurry of celebration that draws attention to libraries, publishing, and the process of writing and creation.
I just got my annual Public Lending Right cheque for Because Internet from the Canada Council for the Arts, so permit me a thread about what the public lending right is and why you should request books you love from public libraries!

Huh. I've been trying out the Flare Calmer earplugs. I wasn't convinced they were doing anything—but I just had a meeting in a cafe, then went to kmart while it was packed with students, and my brain is still online. Coincidence? Or are the Calmers working? 🤔

Just was at the absolutely beautiful launch of Sandie Forsyth's first book of poetry, Visitor. Don't sleep on this collection—Sandie is an incredible poet, who has a tight grasp on craft and epitomizes queer joy.

I'm playing Tiny Book Shop, where I essentially get to play out my lifelong dream of being a librarian 😁 Very cute relaxing game—complete with real titles to recommend to customers!

Just signed on a new rental! Ticks most of the boxes, except for a firm 'no dogs' policy. Alas, can't have everything.

Anyone have leads on movers who are reasonable and reliable for a move between Dunedin suburbs?

A niche PSA but anyone in Dunedin who might ever want to apply to the DCC for funding for anything: there's a councillor workshop about the (never-ending) grants review at 1pm on Thursday 5th.

Pass it on?

Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.
