"social media was a painful but necessary step toward radicalizing liberals against concentrated wealth because it revealed just how broken wealthy elites are"

The ability to convince capital markets to hand you a trillion dollars on the strength of obvious bullshit paired with the inability to get a single human to sincerely and spontaneously say they love you is some real punishment of the gods shit.
Elon has never experienced this and neither have his biggest fans but now they can create these visuals with the help of a computermachine

i think part of the underlying logic is that they only notice these sorts of conflicts when one side starts trying to hit back. outside of that things are the way they are supposed to be
This reductive talking point a lot of conservative pundits love to invoke—"oppressed vs oppressors"—is so weird to me. I've seen their rationale for that framing but practically speaking I don't understand what think it accomplishes

It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

what i'm getting from this is that strategy games that present systems as legible and predictable are helping drive people fascist... ergo we should try to revive Starcraft Brood War

The "good" news is that, as I recall, the $1 trillion pay package is fake - unlike the previous insane pay package, this insane pay package is supposedly contingent on hitting a bunch of targets that Tesla likely won't hit (they're not as easy to rig as stock price or claiming the software works).

one thing i wish there was more writing on by radicals is navigating these shifts and making the most of them. i can only think of graeber's The Shock of Victory (although I guess David Chapman's essay on subcultures is also relevant, although not radical)
I gotta be real, I viscerally hate sort of thing. Yes, sure, bigger numbers have some benefits, but I got so much ire with how normie apolitical hipsters latched onto Obama and Bernie as "cool" "moments" and, from that orientation, ended up spawning some of the worst political subcurrents ever.
