This is the consequence of ill-advised asperity
Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes into hours?

Just finished reading Anne of Green Gables with my daughters - I had never read it before but it is always highly regarded by my library colleagues. It did not disappoint - such a beautifully told story, and we're all excited now to continue Anne's adventures with the next book in the series. 📚

A friend visited an Episcopal Church on Sunday. They went at 8AM and were surprised there was no music. I said "Ah yes the classic 8AM spoken Eucharist." But I have no idea why this is a thing - did it begin with the 79 BCP or was there already a tradition of early morning spoken services? ⚓

OTD 225 years ago in Boston, "America's first composer" William Billings died at age 53. I first heard his music at Sacred Harp singings, and especially love "Easter Anthem" Recently I've enjoyed listening to the anthem "Be Glad then America" which seems positively prophetic

It’s the guns.

They protect the guns
(& not the children)
because they love the guns
(more than children).

Empty thoughts,
empty prayers,
children sacrificed,
rinse & repeat.

It’s the guns
(& the people protecting the guns).

This was written in 2012, right after Sandy Hook. Everything should have changed after that day, or on so many days before and after.

Nothing HAS changed. Our Moloch forbids it!

The pit in your stomach as you read about another school shooting, having dropped off your own kids at their school a few hours ago. Lord have mercy
“Dozens of frantic parents dumped their cars on side streets and sprinted toward the school.”
Dozens of squads en route to Annunciation Church, casualties reported.

Mourn, mourn, mourn, mourn
Pharaoh and Ahab prevail in our Land
Mourn, mourn, mourn, mourn
Achans abound and trouble the Land
Mourn, mourn, mourn, mourn
Darkness and clouds of awful shade
Hang pendant by a slender thread
Waiting commission from God, the upholder, to fall and distress us
