One of the defining features of American political sentiment in the present era in particular is that almost everyone wants the benefits of living in a society w robust support/protection but basically no one wants to personally contribute what itd take to make that available

Herbstreit shitting on BYU for losing a conference championship game and giving Alabama a pass for the same thing is everything that is stupid about this sport.

I realize this is more subjective/narrative based than anything objective, but last night was a good example as to why I think it's important to have guys like Bryan Rust around through a rebuild instead of getting a 2nd-round pick or some B-level or prospect for him.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

again i am perfectly fine with locking every one of Jeffrey Epstein's friends in prison, Democrat, Republican or Whatever.
Lest there be any insinuation that Dems spared their own. It would be tough for Kathy Ruemmler—Obama’s WH Counsel from 2011 to mid-2014—to come off looking worse in these docs the committee Dems released. oversightdemocrats.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Guys, Dan Lanning is not leaving Oregon. Like at all. Even if he wanted to, which he does not, the buyout for him to leave is $20 million through at least 2030. It is not happening.

Posting so I can keep pointing to the sign.

There’s an old, cliche saying: “When someone tells you who they are, believe them.”

The Pittsburgh Pirates think we’re dumb. They think we’re oblivious.

If this story coupled with keeping Cherington around isn’t enough to show you that…I dunno, man.
i am still so rattled about this.

blaming fans really sucks. we showed out and they shit all over us. i spent nearly all of my disposable income in college on this stupid team (well, and beer). it was never enough and will never be enough.

1. I am not worried about the Penguins being "too good." They won't be. Whatever talent they have on forward will be canceled out by the defense and goaltending. They will be a lottery team. Maybe not the worst team (Chicago), but they will be a lottery team.

Naked authoritarian fascism. Love and support to the entire team at @jimmykimmellive.bsky.social, who *will* come out the other side of this horrendous abuse of power. Disgusted to see ABC caving to this glaringly illegal and unconstitutional threat from Brendan Carr.
Extraordinarily corrupt. I watched FCC chair Brendan Carr's full interview on Hannity. Carr basically said straight out that coverage of Trump he deems overly hostile can be decreed contrary to the "public interest," and thus grounds for yanking licenses:

What do you even do with this? How do you say this without talking about turnovers?

How can I, a hockey guy, understand this but a lot of football people can’t?

Steelers are part of this and boy oh boy, it got your boy quite annoyed!

Strap on in.

“A lack of elite quarterback play is often highlighted as a reason for those repeated failings. However, that’s actually a myth. The quarterbacks haven’t been half bad.”

Oh really? JAX/CLE games are mentioned.
Welcome to the mushy middle.

These five teams are stuck in football purgatory, unable to make meaningful playoff inroads while being mired around the .500 mark.

I am not an economist, but there is so much obviously wrong here.

First, the government doesn't buy bonds. It sells bonds to pay for deficits.

Someone else buys bonds based on the risk and rate of return. Good luck selling 1% bonds after announcing you are going to fudge your economic numbers.
Trump: "I believe we should be 3 or 4 points lower. So that's over $1 trillion we pay every year in interest. And it's really just a paper calculation. You sign a document and you save almost a trillion dollars."

I cannot stress enough, if you want something fixed/added to The Stanley Cap, let me know. I never witnessed this issue because it didn't seem to show up on large screens (my desktop) or small screens (my phone). But on a mid-sized tablet it did. It was an easy fix once I knew about it.
a thing that bugs me a bit, on Ipad mini, some tables aren’t aligned correctly

Cap summary/ depth chart/ team+player stats all show like this

Somehow on the cap summary tab, all the other sections are shown as expected

This is basically the part 2 of my last political post. This is why “lesser of two evils” is no longer an option, because the lesser evil is dependent on the greater one to stay in power. There is no actual interest in public servitude, they just want to hold the position. ALL masks have come off.
In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular."

people on here aren’t gonna like hearing this, but a sympathetic former ICE agent cutting ads about being forced to drop investigations into child pornographers to arrest gardeners would probably be pretty effective messaging.
NEW: I spoke to a dozen current and formers about low morale at ICE amid the Trump admin's relentless push for more and more arrests. Officers and agents aren't complaining or looking for sympathy but they're facing public anger & political pressure from above www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
Trump loves ICE. Its Workforce Has Never Been So Miserable.
A “mission impossible” deportation campaign has left many employees burned out and morally conflicted.
