US elections produce ripple effects that most other countries' elections just straight-up don't.
Which is why it was so infuriating to see Americans not vote, or not vote strategically. It was a massive failure of solidarity towards the people who would be affected, but had no say in the matter.

Remember before the Canadian election, when most of us didn't really know Mark Carney, and lots of folks were worried that he was going to fall into the "boring banker" stereotype?
I think what's actually impressed me most about his run so far is his quick wit and comedic timing. Dude is funny!

The more the dust settles on this, the more the d'Entremont affair is looking like a massive unforced error from the Conservatives.
Once they heard he was wavering, they could have tried to offer him something to stay, but instead they drove him right to the Liberals with their hamfisted response.

The Conservative reaction to the departure of Chris d'Entremont, from the online threats to Consevative house leaders physically assaulting his staff, is the perfect encapsulation of why Chris left, why he was right to leave, and why others would be very wise to follow.
Chris d'Entremont on being confronted by Andrew Scheer and Chris Warkentin: "I had the house leader and the whip barge into my office, push my assistant aside, rush in, take the door and just push it wide open, to sit there and tell me how much of a snake I really was."

The d'Entremont interview is worth watching in full, but this part is critical— When news broke that he was thinking about leaving, the Conservative whip didn't try to talk to him or convince him to stay, he busted down his door, physically pushed his assistant, and screamed at him for all to hear.

The Chris d'Entremont interview on CBC today is a must-watch. It's amazing to contrast his calm reasonableness in explaining why he left the Poilievre Conservatives with the absolutely vicious, scorched-earth response that he's getting from his former party. Really demonstrates his points perfectly.

I think a lot about the leaked signal chat, in which it was clear that folks were claiming presidential backing without any evidence. That’s how our government is running. People lying that they’ve talked to the president.
So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?
