Still thinking about Bongino saying “You know a suicide when you see one, and that’s what that was!” Weird thing to say.

In the wake of Prop Q failing, #atxcouncil shd eliminate the next police cadet class and divert the $ to APD's deferred maintenance list. State law won't let them *cut* the police budget, but they can and MUST stop ballooning it in budget busting ways. Not ideal, but it's what the voters demanded.

On Sunday Trump & Sen Graham called health insurance companies bad & evil & talked about cutting the out of the health payment biz altogether. Now they say they do want people to shop for private insurance. What happened to “the insurers are bad and evil?”

My politics are “Tax the rich.” Apparently this idea is growing in popularity, and is being put to test in the NYC mayor’s race. In this context, Prop Q in Austin feels a little cursed.

"Carceral liberalism" describes the ideology of Ann-Richards-era Texas Democrats; you'll hear a lot of gaslighting pretending she was some great liberal, but no Republican at the time wd have dreamed of tripling the size of the prison system.

Civil society should be resisting Trump’s authoritarianism. It’s succumbing to it instead.

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
