The problem is that you simply can't get a functioning political system based on ideology when the coalition needed to maintain a cordon sanitaire against populist nutcases requires people with ideologies ranging from AOC to Liz Cheney (and their rough equivalents in other countries).

The entire past 10 years is just a 90s neocon getting people to realize he had a point about civic virtue and video games being satanic in the most monkeypawed way possible.
This is what pisses me off about all of this. The rise of the NSDAP came as a result of losing the bloodiest war fought in European history. The return of MAGA is the result of boobs in video games being too small and not being able to go to Applebee’s for a few months in 2020.
I was finally, for the first time in my life, starting to make things work and then the dumbest, most coddled people ever produced by any society on earth blew up the future!
