I believe nostalgia is a form of survivor’s bias. The 80’s were great for me so that period must have been great for everybody.
The latest bleak new AI slop niche are “nostalgia” videos about how good the 1980s and 1990s were. A procession of young people with feathered hair wonder at how terrible 2025 is and tell the viewer they should come back to the 1980s, where things are better.

I just finished the first draft of a horny Christmas romance novel. It’s very far outside my comfort zone story-wise but I’m quite proud of it. I’m hoping that feeling persists thru the endless rolling revisions I’ll be doing over the next month or so.
