Law and order.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro—who claims she’s helping Trump fight crime in D.C.—will no longer charge people for illegally carrying shotguns and assault weapons in public, which is a felony offense under D.C. law.

Washingtonians, do we feel safer yet? www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
Pirro’s office won’t pursue gun charges over carrying rifles, shotguns
A statement from Pirro on Tuesday said D.C.’s blanket prohibition on carrying shotguns or rifles “is clearly a violation of the Supreme Court’s holdings.”

There's also the question of why NYTimes is devoting any coverage at all to a failed primary candidate with no endorsement from any party's voters. If Cuomo had won, would Mamdami get puff pieces about his proposals too?

I think we all know the answer to that one.
It is legitimately insane that the NYT has now published FOUR separate articles taking seriously this half-baked proposal that is opposed by literally every single person who has thought about it for more than a second

In effect, the Supreme Court ruled that only it could decide issues on a national level. And then, with thousands and thousands of people waiting in limbo for resolution of many legally disputed Trump orders, the justices went on summer vacation, not to return until October.

Honestly still can't believe that I wrote this headline today, let alone that the U.S. Supreme Court's majority did so.

Justice Sotomayor called the order a "gross ... abuse" of the court's authority. Also: Law Dork in the media.

This nightmare will never end unless it’s increasingly publicly named. By Republicans.
