Calling another Packers tie.
Really puts Seattle’s two 38-point halves this season in perspective when the defending SB champion can’t muster a point against… the team that tied with Dallas

I love that Eagles and Packers fans right now are for real like “you know it’s actually a good thing neither team scored points in the first half.”

The whole idea that the Seahawks are a run-first offense in order to draw coverage off the most powerful receiving corps in the NFL feels so much like Congressional Dems justifying their fear of going long.

Looking strongly into which Seahawks running back has been worse this season.
Charbonnet: 44% rush success rate, 0.14 missed tackles forced per carry, 2.06 yards after contact per rush
Walker: 44% success rate, 0.23 missed tackles forced per carry, 1.89 yards after contact per rush

This is like my mom cracking herself up by standing outside the back door loudly telling the dog to “go pee” because it sounds like a rather serious insult in Chinese (狗屁).
Until one of her students walked up to find her venerable professor yelling 狗屁! out into the neighborhood.

Likewise, although mom was in academia. She single-mommed while facing, alone, all of the worst workplace behavior men could display to a woman who was smarter and more well-read and a better translator and a better chair than they would ever be.
My mother was the breadwinner in the family, first to get a college degree in the family, and when she was pregnant with me her boss came into her office, told her that she'd never be the same accountant again, and fired her on the spot. That was in nineteen eighty two

As someone who has actually worked in a regulatory agency, Parks and Rec annoys the fuck out of me. It’s sympathetic in a way, but it’s a real, sympathetic depiction of an office staffed by the dumbest 10% of people I worked with.
At least season 1. I couldn’t take any more.

Also for the record as a leftist who has actually worked on winning policy campaigns.

Tbh this has always been my gut reaction to, for example, my students being strongly encouraged in various bureaucratized ways — by those with power over them! — to share pronouns.
Like, the classroom space is safe for you to share, but I will absolutely not make you do that.

for instance for someone like me being REQUIRED to share pronouns for some event or something, you are basically saying ‘okay you need to out yourself or we have some big conversation about technicalities of your gender very publically.’ i would rather you just assume wrong. much easier for me

TIL that Stuart Hall -- cornerstone of cultural Marxism and founder of the New Left Review -- was at Oxford a student of JRR Tolkien, who dissuaded him from doing a contemporary literary theory analysis of Piers Plowman.
