Used to write about the Cubs.
Still post about the Cubs, as well as the Hawks and Bears.
Sometimes better to be lucky than good.
Bedard goal.
But maybe some skill/read too.
2-0 Hawks.

Insanity.
The fun kind.
Louis Crevier picked up the primary assist on the goal. He's on a four-game points streak and has points in five of his last six games.

An insane challenge by the Flames on the Donato goal. Goal stands.
Hawks to the PP.

Donato break his goal drought, pounding home a rebound off a blocked Crevier shot.
1-0 Hawks.

Hawks speed has been an issue for the Flames.
However, the Hawks have not been able to capitalize as they can't connect on numerous cross slot pass attempts. Passes keep going directly into Flames sticks or skates.

According to the broadcast Louis Crevier just unleashed a 102 mph slap shot.

There's a reason Marvin Miller used to say "free agency with compensation is not free agency."
100%. Also a great reason to note that the QO penalizing signing teams is just incredibly stupid. If you want to provide a bonus to teams losing premium players, god bless, throw some picks at em. But there's no good reason to penalize the signing teams. Not to mention it's obnoxiously complicated
Agreed with this. I also think we were overdue for more players accepting the QO. (Less than 10% had taken it entering today.) If you're Grisham or Torres, your market is going to take a real hit with draft-pick compensation. Taking the tender isn’t ideal, but it’s probably the best path forward.

Cubs really only need one bat.
Everything else will be geared toward pitching, pitching, pitching, and then you know what, even more pitching.

UFA (MLB and MiLB), trades (big and small), waiver wire, maybe even Rule 5.
Cubs have tons of P need, a healthy budget (hopefully), and roster space to add.

I'm okay with it. An overpay, but it's one year, so I don't really care.
I still need the Cubs to add a frontline SP this offseason.
And I still want an additional SP add on top of that.
I'm just all for overloading on SP then figuring out who pitches in rotation and who in BP down the road.
Shota Imanaga accepted the Cubs' qualifying offer, a source confirmed to the Tribune, and will earn $22.025 million in 2026.

An interesting decision by Imanaga to return to the Cubs rather than try to land a multi-year deal elsewhere.

Spencer Knight: arguably the best goalie in the NHL so far this season.

Bears have a legit shot at becoming one of the most illegitimate playoff teams ever.

But I'll enjoy it for what it's worth

And hey, maybe a couple of the CBs can get healthy and a coupke WRs discover a legal formula for stick'em before the postseason to help make them something approaching average

Bears only have 1 game remaining against a team with a losing record (CLE).
The real barometer for this team begins next week.
They finally beat a team with more than 3 wins.
By beating a team with 4 wins.
Chicago is 7-3 with negative point differential.

Bears cap off their defensive day the same way they began, with Nashon Wright fucking up.

And deserved every moment of this collapse.
Bears decided to put this game in the hands of a back seven with 4 starters missing.
