Used to write about the Cubs.
Still post about the Cubs, as well as the Hawks and Bears.
Well, Assad and Steele have been good relievers in the past, so not sure why there is a ton of doubt there. But whatever.

It's probably not the course of action the Cubs take, or if they do acquire 2 more SP, it likely means a current SP gets traded. But, it's what my strategy would be.

I just think it's a strategy they absolutely take this year given they currently have no long term SP commitments, the lack of RP under contract (they only have like 6 under contract and all have MiLB options). It's not something that would work every year, but this year? I'm 100% behind SP overload

And if everyone stays healthy and looks good in ST and you don't have room for everyone? Oh darn, Cubs would probably be the only team with SP depth to trade early in the season.

I'm aware.
But Rea/Assad can be stashed in the pen. Maybe Imanaga too if velo doesn't return.
Wiggins in AAA.
Steele probably starts on IL and can pitch in relief too some if need be.
2025 Boyd/Horton IP bumps may catch up to them in 2026.
Plan for the worst. Use 6-man rotation as much as possible.

Exactly the team I was thinking of.
