Distancing yourself from disabled / chronically ill ppl is also why the majority don’t wear a mask in public spaces

They subconsciously or consciously go “they’re immunocompromised, I’m not like them”

You’re more like us than u want to admit

Each COVID reinfection increases your risk of LongCOVID
Distancing yourself from the #disability community, when you’re obviously disabled or a person with a disability IS caused by #ableism & internalized ableism

I’ve seen this frequently in the #stuttering community & the #ADHD community

#InternalizedAbleism #StutteringAwareness #StammeringAwareness
What #ableism and internalized ableism looks like:

You don’t call yourself “disabled” or a “person with a disability” even though it fits the definition under the law

You don’t call yourself disabled or a PWD even though your “condition” affects the way you live, decisions, job opportunities, etc

“It is those of us who were asked, how many lives would you trade for indoor dining and said…0. Those of us who were asked, how long will you care for your neighbor and said, I always will. Those of us who were told, you don’t have to ❤️ anyone, not anymore, and said, that’s what makes me a radical.”
In 2020, Arundhati Roy wrote a gorgeous, prescient essay called “The Pandemic is a Portal”. In this piece, I discuss who actually walked through it: the COVID conscious community, and why I’m proud to be a part of it.

The Pandemic Has Been a Portal (for a few of us)
It's true that most people keep choosing "normalcy". But the COVID conscious community is showing us a radical new way forward, that centers care

Come what may, I will bet on us, every time, because there is no other bet worth placing. I am all in, fam. I will never stop looking for openings and aiming at them. I will never stop reaching for people and saying, “Take my hand. We can do this.” Because we are worth it.

Viewpoint: RFK's reckless firing of CDC #vaccine advisors not supported by evidence

Kennedy's rationale is based on a series of inaccuracies and part of a pattern of misrepresentation.

The most important thing you can do is visibly do things that make sense for you and who you are and where your skills and capabilities lie.

If someone sees you, they will think "oh, it's okay, I'm not alone."

It was entirely clear this is what they were doing. They say it's about immigrants but nothing would stop them from using this on citizens. It's a clear violation of the privacy act. They're combining databases from DHS, HHS, SSA, and IRS to surveil everyone.

Destroy DOGE, undo every bit of its work, and render every DOGE employee unemployable in their professional field for life. End their careers and shame them in every way we can. And make them see that we fixed the government and everything they did was for naught.
Hearing the same from a direct source. People in Americorps being told they're done. It's over. No notice.
My bff’s son works for Americorps and received a decommissioning letter today. DOGE is gutting the program. I’m so angry and disappointed DOGE would go after a program that does such good work. @marisakabas.bsky.social @kairyssdal.bsky.social @katiephang.bsky.social

Pushing back on covid denialism is anti-capitalist work, as the push to live life as if it were 2019 or prior only serves capital interests. If you are a person who spends their life fighting for other people, you should already be used to standing out for your beliefs. You got this😷
