Oregon’s congressional delegation faces growing pressure as thousands pack town halls from La Grande to Hillsboro, with some gatherings so large that people were turned away. Protesters of all ages are rising against Trump’s policies and what they call an unconstitutional power grab with Elon Musk.
Trump’s first month sparks protests, packed town halls across Oregon
Oregonians are protesting the Trump administration and filling town halls with members of Congress on a regular basis. And the frustration with both parties is clear.

Do we have any sway with representatives and senators that are not from our district/state? I’m so fucking tired of the sad impotence from Schumer/Durbin/et al.

Never mind my previous post. I’m with Buttigieg - it’s Trump’s fault.

I’m not blaming Trump for what seems to be years of understaffing, but I am saying it was an exceptionally stressful week for federal employees.
“Staffing at the air traffic control tower at Ronald Reagan National Airport was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic,” according to an internal preliminary Federal Aviation Administration safety report about the collision that was reviewed by The New York Times.”

"What happened last night is the most direct assault on the authority of Congress, I believe, in the history of the United States. It is blatantly unconstitutional," Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) says of Trump's OMB halting all federal grants.

"If this stands, then Congress may as well adjourn."

I don’t know what to make of this article. It’s a little too “both sides” about a Nazi salute for my taste. #elonmusk
What Elon Musk’s Salute Was All About
A gesture associated with the Nazis has a surprising history. But in Germany, there was little doubt about its meaning.

It’s hard to launch a child into adulthood - choosing a college, and a major, thinking about what job they’d like to have in four years - when we don’t even know if we will still have a country in four years. #college

Some show 15 years ago where couples leave their baby with a teenager for a week… baby won’t eat his baby food, and the teen rolls her eyes and says “Fine then, starve.” We still say this to our kids and each other.
Streaming has killed one of the oldest, proudest, and most time honored traditions: watching a weird reality tv show with your family precisely one time and then referencing it constantly for the rest of your lives

I’m depressed about the impending TikTok ban. Free speech concerns, yes. Out-of-touch politicians, yes. But what really sucks is that my teens and I bond over TT. Sitting together and laughing over each other’s saved TTs… Sometimes out of the blue they send me a TT that made them think of me. 🥺
A recent ruling that upholds the government’s TikTok ban is stunning and worrisome, writes @evelyndouek.bsky.social:

“Courts should be very wary of letting amorphous claims of ‘national security’ interests by the government become a loophole in the First Amendment.”
The Government’s Disturbing Rationale for Banning TikTok
Vague national-security concerns don’t justify shutting down the popular Chinese-owned app.
