I remember reading somewhere that horse owners will never blame their horse for injuries they sustain while riding them (I shouldn't have stood there, it wasn't [horse]'s fault) and I feel the same way about city busses

the very pathetic truth is that all the fuckers writing 'harris lost by running on the left' op-eds would, if she had ran the exact same campaign but won, be writing 'harris won by rejecting the left' op-eds instead. they're not honest people

Wish the news outlets and baseball teams (lol???) rushing to eulogize a D-tier right wing mouthpiece would include some of their favorite inspirational quotes from the guy. Should be easy, right? Show me that soaring rhetoric and big thinking worthy of such veneration

One of the most disheartening things about trans advocacy is how little the people who claim to be on our side actually listen to us.

"trans-identifying", "biological sex", and a variety of other GC dogwhistles have become common parlance because people listen to our enemies, but not us.
Whole ass nation states are attempting to confine trans people to the home—preventing us from using the toilet, playing sports or accessing medical care without exposure to violence—on the basis that “changing your sex is impossible” so if you’re saying that to trans people too, meet your allies.

This is going to ruin so many cis women's lives. They had to end it in the 2000's because it resulted in women having their lives destroyed, partners leaving them, family disowning them etc. After some high profile suicides and attempts , they had to stop.

As all feminists know, if you can't talk about it, it will never happen again.
home by the rotting sea is deindexed & now in breach of the updated guidelines of itch, not because it's porn (though my porn comics are flagged also), but because the story explores sexual assault. you should care about porn as well, of course, but we intuitively get the flagrant wrongness of this

The audacity of using AI on an adaptation of an Alberto Breccia comic... a guy who went to any lengths to pursue new ways of analog texturing his work. He made comics of nothing but cut up construction paper, he embroidered landscapes in his panels, and inked with fucking razor blades

Some places will have to start rationing water - to enable AI slop.

my view is that everyone should be able to earn a living wage doing whatever it is they like. if you love working in a bookshop, you should be able to live a comfortable life doing so. if you loving being a barista, the same. and if you want to do more traditional blue collar work, that’s cool too!
the other thing is that no one who fetishizes manual labor actually cares to improve life for people who are in those circumstances! no support for unionization or a generous welfare state! no interest in policies that make life easier for people who work their hands or afford them more autonomy!

The entire premise of the story only works if you think affirmative action made being Black a cheat code, which a lot of "liberal" whites absolutely do
They deemed this story newsworthy b/c the NYT & many of its elite white readers are still obsessed with race-conscious college admissions. Now after finally winning at SCOTUS anti-affirmative action folks can only attack it retroactively.

That’s why this seemed like a “story” worth risking it all.

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.
