i think a lot of the conversation around "difficulty" might be more compelling through a lens of "interest"-
forget, for a moment, whether or not the player is able to overcome the challenge in front of them & why. how *actively engaged and interested* are they in the challenge presented to them?

i don't think videogames should be constructed with the goal of shepherding disinterested players through the entire game
