I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Maybe I’ll tell y’all about Thanksgiving in Uzbekistan, where I was in the peace corps 2000-2001.
I lived in a town; nearest American lived in a qishloq - a true village. A few of us somehow figured out to meet there. (How? No internet, no phones. No recollection of how we planned anything.) 1/

The new Ursula K. Le Guin exhibition at Oregon Contemporary is a sprawling love note to Portland's most far-out visionary.

The exhibition compiles her hand-drawn maps, and features a reproduction of her NW Thurman writing room... plus doodles of cats!!

Toaster. The future is delicious.
Would you rather have a mirror that shows you a random five second clip of the future OR a toaster that prints cryptic messages on your bread that eventually come true, you just don't know when

Why does US ESPN have such lame soccer coverage? Why can't I get news about teams in the English Championship on the US edition of ESPN? If I switch to the UK edition, the coverage is great. Why give certain regions less content, when you could just serve the same prime content to everyone?

There is a post circulating on Bluesky encouraging the moving of a frozen turkey straight into a pot of hot oil. We are combating this misinformation the best way we know how - through the power of dance music.

There was a time in my youth when I would have been mildly sad that State lost, but that day was long ago. And as long as Will Wade is there, they can lose every game by a hundred points and I will not shed a tear.

Maybe he should quit the shade, and worry more about getting his team ready to play.

This world carries darkness in abundance, shadows that stretch long and cold. Joy is the medicine that mends what breaks, the balm that soothes what aches, the light that refuses to be extinguished. Seek joy in each dawn that breaks—let it be your daily practice, your ritual.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

Forty years ago today, Calvin & Hobbes was first published. It's all fabulous but, as time went on, Bill Watterson decided he was going to make his Sunday pages the most gorgeous, creative, and varied of all. This is one of my favourites, partly for the use of the looooong final panel.

I am starting to see many more terrible errors in sports journalism. Terrible meaning just obviously wrong and nonsensical information. Am I paranoid, or is this the sign of AI content?
