Early this morning #Whimbrel POTSKAR landed in Guinea, W Africa, after flying 7000+km from St-Petersburg, Russia. It took POTSKAR 5.5 days of NON-STOP flight, varying altitude from 10s of meters over the Baltic and the Med, to >5km over land. #ornithology

Record numbers of Hen Harriers have been illegally killed or gone missing in suspicious circumstances over the last five years. A new RSPB report shows that the majority of the 102 recorded incidents during that time occurred on or near grouse moors. Additionally, it reported that 2023 was also the worst recorded year for persecution of Hen Harriers.

Fortunate to witness an astonishing spectacle at the beach tonight: tens of thousands of (mainly Small) white butterflies pouring in over the sea, as far as you could see. Pulses of butterflies swept in-off everywhere, an extraordinary sight.
