Imagine if they just subsidized newspapers and magazines the way they’re subsidizing this slop
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Speaking as a longtime Paul Thomas Anderson aficionado, Sinners was a way more important film — and a much smarter film — than One Battle After Another, which was entertaining at times but also full of misogynoir and bad revisionist readings of liberation movements

One Battle After Another relies on its audience’s ignorance about the actuality of Black and radical liberation movements

Because if you know even a little about them, it’s like a weird cartoon caricature

And tbh I worry a lot about people who didn’t see how gross the portrayal of Black women in One Battle After Another is

Again, I like PTA but that man can’t write coherently about race to save his life

Climate diplomacy is failing us, no matter which country hosts the COPs.
As long as this system keeps granting so much access to the fossil fuel and agribusiness climate arsonists (aka lobbyists), we'll keep being told to celebrate minor progressive language and new meetings to set meetings.

Meanwhile, the @postguild.bsky.social is protesting and raising awareness about the fact that the Washington Post illegally fired me, its only Black woman opinion columnist, for doing my job.

Salute to the Guild.
Shame on the Post.

The clips and conversations I’m hearing about the SNAP (food stamp) cuts should be above the fold everywhere. It’s a scary time for a lot of people.
Families are already hanging by a thread, but the sad truth is it’s about to get a lot worse when SNAP benefits don’t go out in November.

It’s time to find our local food banks and help out with donations and volunteer hours if you are able.

We aim to release it early next year. This weekend I’m at Blackstar, looking for inspiration. If you’re in town, DM to meetup.
