Joe Biden was the best president of my entire lifetime, it’s not even all that close, and that’s terrible.

This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

Lost in the discourse of how big developers are forced to be shitty to extract more money from gamers who refuse to pay >$60 is that there is no reason to believe they would stop if paid more. EA or Paradox going “oh, they paid $120, no upsells on this title” is not a real thing that would happen.

It is wild to me that the largest company on the stock market, one with such incredible prestige and a huge PR team got dog-walked here. Why would you EVER give this ANY oxygen? Now everybody is asking whether NVIDIA is like Enron! This didn't help at all!
Nvidia refuted accounting questions in a memo to analysts, saying "Unlike Enron, NVIDIA does not use Special Purpose Entities to hide debt and inflate revenue" (Tae Kim/Barron's Online)

Keep in mind that broadly speaking if investors lose confidence in Altman, there is like a 1 in 3 chance the U.S. stock market explodes

Look, I know we're all sick of hearing "if this had happened with any other president ..." but it's absolutely true and absolutely can't be forgotten.

For some reason, this nation gives this idiotic spoiled brat a free pass from things that would destroy the administration of any other person.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

We're not really talking enough about how the tariff reversals on fruits and nuts and spices is an admission by Trump that his entire economic program is a miserable failure.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

the thing that upsets me about this the most is that Dems had all the momentum, republicans were reeling, and we were getting intra-GOP fighting over the filibuster, all while voters were blaming republicans for their incompetence

this destroys all of this. just a total gut punch

Caving now will teach Trump and Republicans that they can win any fight simply by threatening to cause terrible harm to regular people. no possible way that could have future adverse consequences

It needs to be made explicitly clear and not forgotten or memory holed or “blue no matter who” excused six months from now that a “vote on ACA subsidies later” means you’re caving on ACA subsidies. That vote will not pass. Everyone knows this.

I am once again saying that we saw what wall to wall, panic coverage of a crisis looked like after the Biden debate and there’s no reason Trump isn’t getting that kind of coverage except for class solidarity.
So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

People are supposed to get hurt when they misallocate capital, the one exception is depository institutions because they have demand deposits in them.
my hot AI take is that regardless of how we feel about it, bailing out the big AI companies may be *necessary* to avoid long-term systemic harm to real people
