A lot of global academic conferencing is centered around the US, and US academic orgs have to be thinking very seriously now. You cannot continue to carry on with in person conferencing as if foreign scholars have no impediments to travel.
I know we like to pretend everything is "normal" again but..

It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year.

I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

NEW: Medications for HIV treatment and prevention were supposed to resume around the globe.

Tech companies make it VERY hard to de-platform from them. (Except Twitter - that's easy).
I'm too entwined with Google to make an immediate getaway, but I CAN stop using Google maps as a start (but not without leaving a review of their headquarters first).
