🚨 Delighted to share our paper defining a new role for IL-6 in TB. 🚨

We used genetic variation to show *reduced* IL-6 signalling is causally associated with *lower* risk of TB.

Altered IL-6 signalling and risk of tuberculosis: a multi-ancestry mendelian randomisation study
Our findings propose a causal relationship between reduced IL-6 signalling and lower risk of tuberculosis, akin to the effect seen in other IL-6 mediated diseases. This study suggests that IL-6 antago...

A wonderful addition to the brave new world of human cell-based infection models as an alternative to animals - in many ways far more relevant for host/pathogen interactions at the interface (I know I’m biased, but…!)

Lucky break this morning. Looked out of the window and noticed this massive ball in the sky - turns out it's a supermoon day! 🎉 🎑

Impressive but photo doesn't do it justice. Resolution not great - in 2026 I definitely "need" to get a phone with optical zoom... 😉

This is an interesting scheme - making compelling journal submissions is hard, and early rejections are often met with little to no feedback.

Nice to see a journal offering to make this a learning process for early career researchers.
