Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Let's do what Brent is suggesting
Regarding Prime Minister Carney’s federal budget: I don’t pretend to fully know it, and there are elements that concern me, but if I were the NDP I’d pledge to support it if a significant investment in urban public transit (nation-building, climate etc) was added, and if I were PM Carney I’d agree.

Talking about making roads safer with Simi Sara!
Speed and Intersection cameras are not a "scam", and it is unfortunate that media chooses this framing when proven lifesaving measures, at worst, marginally inconvenience dangerous drivers.

Platform screen doors (PSDs) in Seoul were fundamentally a political issue. Once political support was secured, financial and engineering barriers quickly gave way.

Loved this piece by @seung.bsky.social explaining how 200+ stations received PSDs in <10 years.

It's a sad day when the Conservatives are doing a better job arguing for road safety than the NDP.

Instead of bending over backwards to make driving easier, the NDP could actually take action to save lives on our streets. (2/2)
Five things the Province can do to save lives on our streets
We mainly focus on municipal issues at Vision Zero Vancouver, but the Provincial government has a critical role to play in making our streets safe. Here are five evidence-based ideas the province c…

bus lanes were a key election issue.
the two runner-ups campaigned to rip out bus lanes. they lost.

lesson: don't mess with scarborough's bus lanes. suburban transit riders vote, too.

So tonight the City of Surrey voted to impose "conditions" on TransLink as they proceed to 30% design on King George Blvd BRT, and they're ... REALLY GOOD?!?!?

Dedicated BRT lanes pretty much everywhere you would ask for them. My expectations low 🙃
