Pedestrians who are hit by SUVs are 44% more likely to be killed than if they were hit by a conventional car, new study finds. Children are 82% more likely to die when hit by an SUV than by a car. In children under 10, the risk of death was 130% higher.

Regulate vehicle size now.

It's not relevant whether Abrego Garcia has committed thousands of crimes. Disappearing him off to an El Salvadorean maximum security prison *without due process* is wholly illegal totalitarian bullshit. Everyone who has been sent there by this administration should be brought back, not just him.

Disability is one of the few minority groups you can join at any time.

People believe they will be the exception & have trouble accepting they’re likely to become disabled at some point in their lives.

Work on internalized ableism. Engage in disability justice. It will benefit you in the long run

Your worth is not defined by your productivity.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but:

AUTISTIC PEOPLE DESERVE TO EXIST. And live good lives.

So let’s call it what it really is, RFK Jr:

Eugenics, dehumanisation, and ableism. Reinforced by capitalism
And even those on the spectrum who won’t ever work or pay taxes or may always need assistance in the bathroom are still people who are loved, and they can still thrive and live happy and fulfilling lives!

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
NSF has posted an “update on priorities.”

They’re canceling all “DEI and misinformation/disinformation” grants.

And the guidance on how to fulfill the longstanding, legally mandated Broadening Participation requirement is utterly incoherent.

Not sure if it's part of this proposed ban on gender-affirming care coverage but either here or a future similar bill, they're going to end up banning all the "gender affirming care" women get post breast cancer, like reconstruction or prosthetics. Going to be a rude awakening for transphobic women.
Public comment closes Friday on a proposed rule that would ban states from requiring coverage for gender-affirming care as an essential health benefit under the ACA... meaning necessary care is going to be much harder for trans people to access.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

I saw a version of this on here before but it's worth yelling: these institutions that Musk is illegally dismantling– the weather service, health system, climate & energy research, international aid, maybe the US mail(?)– they don't belong to him, they belong to us. We invested in them. They're ours

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

We voted. Now let's continue to do the work.

WI residents, call Sen. Johnson's office to demand that Congress reclaim their authority and block Trump's use of emergency powers to enforce damaging tarrifs that will only make goods more expensive.

The only emergency is Trump, himself.

If you have a Republican representing you in the House or Senate, call them to demand they undo Trump's tariffs.

They're already shaken by the 20 point shift in Florida and the Wisconsin loss. You can fuel that feeling.

I am begging journalists to write that protestors are being hit by drivers and not trucks or cars. It's something I yell about all the time, but now, more than ever, we need media outlets to assign agency to the drivers attacking protestors. These are right-wing terrorists trying to silence dissent.

My grandparents were natural born German citizens. Until they weren't. I have copies of their documents, stamped "cancelled" by the government.
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.
