the jump in quality between season 1 and season 2 of Vinland Saga is incredible, a friend told me that season 1 enjoyers are 12 and season 2 is for adults and they are totally vindicated

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him
And they should, given this is his fault.
And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.
Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.
He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

This is the only question that should be asked of every dem congressperson tonight
It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.
If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

Do you support a change in Senate leadership after this surrender?
Not picking on Booker - we should ask this of literally all the no votes.

As I've always said, I will not support a government funding bill that continues to raise our costs, jeopardizes our health care, and hurts the people of my state.

Anyone who votes yes on this should have a declared primary challenger tonight. They should be black stains in the Annals of the party forevermore. Disgusting cowardice

The issue with all these takes is "controversial" usually means "something historians settled 25 years ago"
I wish Douthat had followed up and asked Andrews what "areas of inquiry" have been "ruled out of bounds in history" because they are "too controversial" and lead historians away from "truth seeking."

Woof I read maybe a paragraph of that article and closed it, what a bad faith mess.
so i've read this (h/t @annieabrams.bsky.social) and, although I'm also interested in @adapalmer.bsky.social weighing in, I do have some thoughts.
it sucks and the author should feel bad (he won't).
