With a week to go in December's data, the planet is at about 1.40°C above the 1850-1900 IPCC pre-industrial baseline for December, and about 1.47°C above the baseline for all of 2025.

La Nina "cooling" is in full effect right now.

I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.

Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…

All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.

We CAN change things.
It’s crazy that people used to be able to just smoke cigarettes wherever they wanted

For those unfamiliar, this involves:

- Cutting down trees that have sucked up carbon as they grew
- Burning them for energy
- Capturing the carbon that results from burning
- Transporting the carbon
- Injecting it underground
- Guarding it for the next few thousand years at least
NEW | A single carbon removal project at a biomass power station In the UK could cost £30 BILLION in government subsidies.

This would cost more than the UK government plans on spending for carbon capture programmes over 25 years.

You could say this is a feature, not a bug, if your goal has always been to serve fossil producers, and you don't actually care about consumers.
EVERY SINGLE FOSSIL FUEL IS MORE EXPENSIVE IN THE TRUMP-PLEASING HIGH-FOSSIL-FUEL SCENARIO

I wish I'd had the time to read this whole report properly earlier this week: the scale of this rake-step / self-own is absolutely incredible

THANKYOU donald trump for pushing the IEA to include all of this
