I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

Sometimes I just get stuck thinking about MAG on the PS3 and wanting to go back to that moment. What a wild game

can't believe outlets are running moral-panic headlines again based on flimsy anecdata from the *same* trade group (the national retailer federation) and sponsored by the *same* anti-theft company (sensormatic) that had to retract this *same* "study" just two years ago for being bogus.

GDT's adaptation of Frankenstein is absolutely my favorite film of the year. Just an incredible piece of artistry from everyone involved

Playing Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1 version) on my Vita and finally, finally getting beyond Dorter and into a place of modest understanding with how things work. Game is rad, kinda want to get the remaster just to see what they do with voice acting and updated scripts

"Republicans run the entire government but can't keep it open"

That's it. That's the whole story.
Yes. (And still getting "standoff" BS and "who will blink first" and "who will voters blame" from news.)

Trump and MAGA control the *entire* government. It's a simple fact:
- White House
- Senate
- House
- Scotus
- OMB (to the hilt)
- Every regulatory agency

They're in command. It's on them.
I do not understand why they cannot get the headlines right.

Just follow the gop playbook!

“Repubs control it all! The shutdown is on them!”

As nauseum.

Don’t lead with the nuance.

The monster hunter wilds / FF XIV crossover is very good if only because it brought sweet baby boy Alpha along for the ride.

I'm trying to finish up Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation and dawg this is absolutely the hardest game in this series. I dunno if it's the flight model or the crunchy 720p or the confusion from multiple objectives/battles happening each mission but I feel like I'm just doing something wrong here

In the past week I've finished Skin Deep (rad, go play it!), God of War Chains of Olympus (solid handheld GoW w/ annoying QTEs), and Triangle Strategy (a fantastic combat system tied to an overly verbose story in need of some editing)

The people who get mad about this kind of honesty are largely not people who will be persuaded by the evidence that the person was horrible. Half the hate mail I've gotten has informed me that I have no evidence Kirk was a bigot, and I laid out evidence *in the column they're complaining about.*
I've never thought there was a bad time to be honest about the fact that a horrible person is/was horrible. But after this week's whitewashing of Kirk by the media and political commentariat, it feels not just permissible but essential to fight both sentimentality and dishonesty at top volume.

I hope people understand that the anomaly here aren’t the conditions—the conditions are very typical—the anomaly is that they put a number of documented workers from a high-income country in those conditions. This is how people are treated in custody routinely
korean reporting is nightmarish on the conditions Korean workers were contained in

Our politics seems to be entering a phase of "right supremacy" where only the lives of right-wingers have value. Assassinating the leader of a state legislative body in her own damn home was business as usual, but all of America has to have a reckoning if it's a far-right online influencer.

The media environment in the US has degraded so quickly. While Dowd's remarks weren't laudatory, they weren't crass or cheap. Compare this with the Fox News anchor suggesting *this morning* that we should murder ("involuntary lethal injection; just kill 'em") people experiencing mental health crises

Imagine being so wedded to a certain style of horse-race political analysis that you "nothingburger" away the very likely possibility that the current President of the United States *raped children* and is using the vast and powerful apparatus of the government he controls to cover it up.
CNN data guru Harry Enten calls the Epstein story a "nothingburger" because Google searches have fallen off in the past week, says Trump's approval rating is "pretty gosh-darn good" right now, and commends Trump for having "some of the best political instincts of any politician I‘ve seen."
