This is what the Republican Party's addiction to fantasies of "toughness" gets you--an addled old belligerence addict babbling about a chart nobody can read while announcing an incoherent policy that he likes primarily because it comports with his certainty that everyone's trying to screw him over.

Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.

On a 2023 earnings call, Elon Musk boasted that Tesla had bagged “over 1 million” Cybertruck reservations and that “demand is off the charts.”

So why has the company still sold less than 50,000 trucks since customer deliveries began 14 months ago?
‘Over 1 Million’ People Wanted a Cybertruck. Where Are They?
“Demand is off the charts!” Elon Musk crowed at the end of 2023, citing more than a million reservations for Tesla's polarizing polygonic pickup—so why has it still sold less than 50,000?

I just read this Variety hit job in which it's clear that Disney is trying to pin the failure of Snow White on Rachel Zegler. I'm confused: Did she make the studio spend $270 million on an unasked-for remake of a 90-year-old piece of IP?

I'd estimate that 40% of banks offer completely free accounts with no strings (and like 90% of credit unions.) Anyone who keeps all their money in crypto is a megadunce who is already primed to be a republican due to how dumb they are
Young men don't open bank accounts. They are too expensive. They download coin base or Robinhood app and buy crypto. That's their savings

If one party pushes that number higher. They vote for em. Gensler/Biden caused those savings to go down. The demo with the biggest change was young men
This is legit the dumbest thing I've ever seen him say

Can you name a time liberalism fought for anyone without it being a war crime challenge
Liberalism caused Japan to temporarily have two suns, twice, in order to win a war.

I hope Democrats learn from Merrick Garland’s mistakes and the failure of Obama’s “move on” strategy vis-a-vis Bush era war crimes, and understand that all these people ultimately need to go to prison.
here's video of AG Pam Bondi claiming on Fox last night that the Trump administration "absolutely" will keep doing deportation flights even in the face of court orders telling them to stop

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

The problem with pieces like this, which are countless, is the prevailing media assumption that left-of-center Americans need constant corrective instruction about how to be in and engage with the world, whereas right-of-center Americans are simply to be observed in awe, like rainbows or mountains.
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?

CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.
🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

Musk is unilaterally wrecking the government from within and lining his own pockets. Get him out, terminate his access to all government systems. If you can't rally the public against a cartoonishly corrupt bond villain who's stealing from them in plain sight then get out of politics
Senate Democrats met privately today for lunch to discuss strategy. They widely disapprove of the six-month bill that House Republicans passed, but they remain jittery about a government shutdown if it fails. With Rand Paul a NO, the bill needs at least 8 Dems to pass the Senate. Jury's still out.

The counter argument is that it’s indistinguishable from what is already happening
What’s the Dem counter-argument to this? After the government shut down I’m not sure what happens next and I’m also not sure it’d be Dem-favorable.

that the decision to single out, detain &persecute someone for their political speech was made by those at the highest levels is the purest distillation of fascism. so many dems are silent bc, by framing anti-genocide speech as antisemitic for over a year, they helped create the conditions for this

Still thinking about Newsom. For a Democratic leader to consent to a framework that portrays trans people as a group that is trying to take something away from other people is flatly unforgivable. It is what the right does. And a Democrat who will do it to one group will do it to any group.

I really cannot tolerate this extremely rich asshole playing Democrat whisperer. Euthanize the state, but smarter. Make it easier for people in his class to pillage this country, but in a more orderly fashion. It's exactly what Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer want to hear, too. Useless.
It's not about lobbyists. It's about the politicians on this platform deciding to neuter DOGE by doing a better version of what DOGE wants to do. Legislatively.

The issue isn't the goal of efficiency and savings. That's important.

The issue is the process to get there.
Mark legitimately, what’s stopping you from hiring the lobbyists to get this done? I’ll donate but I’m just a millionaire, you’ve got the institutional money to help get this done

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.
