Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

The assholes of the world, even when wielding actual power, are desperate to be be seen as wielding much more than they have, & will use fear/uncertainty to foster that illusion. I struggle to keep ever at the forefront that no matter the pressure to see otherwise, it’s vital to pierce the illusion.
