People were arguing in my mentions today about whether the Earth is "round" when it's technically an irregular oblate spheroid and look "round" doesn't mean "absolutely perfect sphere" it means round. A soccer ball is round, a cantaloupe is round, a fluffy borb in winter is round, just go with it.

I spent all day arguing with people from Squamish that oil and gas companies aren't your friends, and are not good for communities.

unbelievable that it even needs to be said, given the evidence
A northern B.C. community faces a massive revenue shortfall after an oil company went bust without paying nearly $9 million in outstanding property taxes, interest and penalties.

A Spotlight bug affecting all recent macOS: the LG error
From Ventura (if not earlier) to Tahoe, Spotlight appears unable to index text files that start with two specific letters. Although those are exceedingly rare, this could still catch you out.

Cars deliver the dependency that car ads promise.
Trapped in traffic and stuck travelling long distances to work because of car-centric planning?

Be grateful, says Mercedes-Benz’s latest advert which aims to persuade us that spending two years of our lives stuck inside a car is somehow actually a good thing.

Wow! Montreal’s public bike share system (BIXI) was featured in the TIME Best Inventions Hall of Fame for 2008, not far from the iPhone and Google Street View.

While not the very first bike sharing system, it was one of the earliest and it was the model for many other systems, from NYC to London.

Does anyone know of a RELIABLE tool for screen recording long sessions on macOS?

I've been burned a ton of times by tools which seem great... and then they crash and lose the whole recording, or it turns out the audio wasn't recorded properly

People always ask me: what makes Montreal so ambitious on urbanism? (At least for bikes and pedestrians.)

I've been thinking through this and asking Montrealers, and in this video I want to cover *part* of the answer.

A very excellent video explaining Montreal’s borough system as it relates to a possible reason why this city has the best bike and pedestrian friendly streets in North America. Many courageous people working together have transformed this city over the years. I’ve seen them do it. It’s awesome.

Canada Post is a service. Like other govt or quasi-govt services, it is not supposed to turn a profit. It needs to be efficient, but so do healthcare, the military, food inspection, schools, and other govt services. We subsidize it because people, businesses & remote communities rely on it. #cdnpoli
