We have unfortunate news about passengers under 16 on e-bikes and e-cargo bikes in Ontario. It appears, they are not allowed. Read our blog for a deep dive on the law and what you can do in response:

E-Cargo Bikes, E-Bikes & the Law: Passengers on Electric Bikes
E-Bikes and E-Cargo Bikes are a fantastic way to move people, but you may have to be 16 to ride as a passenger.

In Ontario criminal vigilantism is acceptable, effective & can influence government policy. When Doug Ford gives his tacit approval of criminal vigilantism, indicating it can influence his government's public policy, it's a frightening moment for Ontario. My column on what we should think about.
Shawn Micallef: Doug Ford’s attack on speed cameras shows how good politics can make for lousy public policy
The premier’s comments on Tuesday should be a moment for Ontarians to think whether the province is a place of law and order or where vigilantes can influence government policy.

Does a pickup's high front-end compensate for the driver's wee little cargo space? We don't think so. Every 10cm increase in front-end height = 22% increase in death risk to pedestrian in crash. Meanwhile, cargo space has remained largely the same. #onpoli www.walktoronto.ca/wp-content/u...

While driving behind drivers in large SUVs/pickup trucks I find it amusing to watch these drivers take great care to drive around manhole covers and small bumps in the road. (But, but, I thought these vehicles were meant for serious off-road adventures as portrayed in their ads?) #bikeTO

“A review of scientific research has found that pedestrians and cyclists are 44% more likely to be killed in a collision with an SUV or light truck, compared to a passenger car.

The outlook is even more dire for children, who are 82% more likely to be killed when struck by the larger vehicles.”
Research shows SUVs and utes are the most deadly vehicles
SUVs and large utes are among the most popular vehicles for car buyers in Australia. They may also be the most deadly.

10 days after the last snowstorm, this is the state of the sidewalk beside Birch Cliff PS.

A slippery, inaccessible, sidewalk, forcing those with mobility aids/strollers/etc. to walk beside live traffic.

Please tell me more about the 'war on the car'.

Major safety improvements are coming to #ScarbTO with the Ellesmere Complete Street. New sidewalks/cycle tracks will connect key destinations (UTSC, Centennial College, Centenary Hospital, Meadoway).

It's going to be pretty gnarly across Ontario the next few days. Only ride if you feel comfortable doing so. If you do, ride defensively. Assume they are going to cut you off or run a red light.
