Mel Gibson should change his name to FKA Riggs because he hasn’t done a LETHAL WEAPON movie in a while.

“It’s not racist because it’s the truth” is such a weird line. Like, don’t you think all racists think the things they believe are true? SPOILER: It’s probably racist.

All John Hughes movies end in freeze-frames. There is some order in the universe.

I always thought it was wild at the end of the first Toy Story when the toys murdered that kid in the Punisher shirt.

I’m kind of shocked how much impact this one scene in a 32-year-old movie I never see referenced in any other context had on my generation. Also, listen to our new podcast because we talk about it.

I'm pretty much mad and depressed all the time now, so maybe it's me, but I am so damn tired of rich people who contribute NOTHING being asked their thoughts as if they are actually someone intelligent or important. Let that bitch get on Threads like everybody else.

I can say anything backwards. This made me semi-famous in junior high but it quickly got annoying when randos kept asking how to say “Fuck your mother” to their friends.

Always walk away from bullshit.
This is at least the fourth story I've seen of an author having to exchange multiple emails (over 20) with this publisher to get the contract language to not be rights grabby and it's one of three where the writer walked away.

I appreciate the effort and transparency but I will also say-
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

I know the 1987 THE RUNNING MAN is mid-shelf Arnold but it's one of the first movies to make me politically angry as a kid and probably informed my views quite a bit. I wanted revenge on that stupid game show host.

I liked the new FRANKENSTEIN and it’s cool to see it uniting people as a rare movie event. Here’s the time I interviewed Guillermo Del Toro. It was probably the interview I was most nervous about but may be my favourite one I’ve done.

Maze craze
A war movie wrapped in a girl’s fantasy wrapped in a parable, Pan’s Labyrinth is more greatfilm than enigma.

Letterboxd needs a way to let you filter reviews by middling star ratings. I’m less interested in why people think a highly acclaimed film is worth half-a-star (as they’re probably being unreasonable on some level) than those who think it’s worth two-stars.

It’s funny how when you’re 16, you get sick of hearing Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” a thousand times a week and then you grow up and randomly push play on the music video and are like, “Jesus, they just can’t make em like this anymore.”

It’s crazy that the USA is a Socialist country now. This is exactly like in THE HOT CHICK (2003) when a misogynist played by Rob Schneider wakes up and he’s Rachel McAdams.

People wonder why kitchen parties (parties where everyone congregates in the kitchen) are a Canadian phenomenon. It’s because Americans have an alcohol contribution system at house parties while Canadians bring what they drink and therefore must guard it (this is explained briefly in DETENTION).

I really liked M3GAN 2.0’s embrace of kid-trash sequel tradition, like SHORT CIRCUIT 2 and LAWNMOWER MAN 2: BEYOND CYBERSPACE. You’d have to be a particular type of weird to embrace this truth but it’s better than the first one.
