Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

Dare to imagine a different way.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Whenever I see an aerial/satellite view of LA I think that this should be done at Disneyland or Dodgers Stadium...the parking lots there could have >50MW of solar.

Every compromise is more dead & injured people of all sorts. And it doesn’t matter, Ford still banned them. So stop compromising & take a real stand. All this does is make drivers feel more emboldened to drive dangerously.
Here are the new speed camera warning signs Toronto will start installing on Nov 15, if speed cameras are still permitted. City also targeting that date for change limiting operating hours of cameras to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays only. secure.toronto.ca/council/agen...

Ghoulish stuff from ABC.

There's no excuse for not supporting common sense public safety measures like this that seek to protect children.

We're incredibly disappointed in this outcome; this should have been an easy win for the safety of our children. Our response: visionzerovancouver.ca/2025/10/29/h...

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it wastes public money to NOT do it.

Toronto wins over LA at city-building.
day 2:

dodger stadium's 16,000-spot parking lot is so huge, it could fit ~10 more dodger stadiums in its place. a monument to socal's asphalt addiction more than to baseball.

meanwhile in toronto, an actual walkable, bustling city exists around the stadium

Lots to think about here. Full disclosure… if it’s safer to do so , and there are no pedestrians around, I ride on the sidewalk. That is how I got to live this long !
If we tolerate pedestrians crossing against a red light when no cars are coming — a technically illegal but widespread behavior — why shouldn’t we trust cyclists to exercise similar judgment? They, too, have literal skin in the game.

The default in nearly all states is to impose the same traffic rules on bicycles as on motor vehicles even though the needs of cyclists are so different.
