"Get the principals on camera" is such a telling phrase here, because it tells us that for Weiss there's no world in which the victims of these horrific actions can actually be seen as the subjects of the story: They're background noise, and the people who matter are the ones sending them.
Weiss concluded: “We need to be able to make every effort to get the principals on the record and on camera. To me, our viewers come first, not a listing schedule or anything else. And that is my North Star, and I hope it's the North Star of every person in this newsroom.”

What we have now under President Trump is utterly inconsistent with equal justice under law. I watched, virtually day after day, his direction to the DOJ to prosecute his perceived political enemies and to insulate his friends, his family….

‼️🇺🇸 Putin personally chose Witkoff as the key negotiator with the U,S — WSJ.

Russian-American contacts started at the beginning of the year after the crown prince of Saudi Arabia gave Witkoff a signal from the Kremlin. It said that Putin wanted to meet with him personally.

DOJ said equal employment opportunity laws don't supersede Trump's removal powers under Article II

The Justice Department’s rollback of disparate impact is just one new policy that makes it harder for people of color to challenge illegal discrimination.

Now threatening European states that if they use Russian assets to help Ukraine, they will have to pay it all back.

Mike Johnson and his family have 75% of all their healthcare expenses subsidized by US taxpayers even though he makes a base of $225K per year
Breaking news: Moderate House Republicans join Democrats to force a vote on ACA subsidies, which are likely to expire.

Speaker Mike Johnson had refused to allow a vote, provoking the strongest rebellion among Republicans from swing districts to date.

The Senate has already rejected the plan, so the subsidies are still virtually certain to expire at the end of this year.

Terrific piece by @jamellebouie.net that articulates the central problem with the Trump presidency.

He demanded unprecedented power and has, thanks to his lickspittles in Congress & SCOTUS, been granted it. But he has little interest in using it beyond his grasping selfishness. The nation's adrift.

Trump on Venezuela: "Getting land, oil rights, whatever we had -- they took it away because we had a president that maybe wasn't watching. But they're not gonna do that. We want it back. They took our oil rights. We had a lot of oil there. They threw our companies out. And we want it back."
