Diplomatic dude. I know a little about international economics. I once explained the electoral college on Mongolian TV. Climate change believes in you. Vaccines are good, actually.

Apologies if this sounds rather basic and/or "partisan," but I really think a minimum requirement for people in positions of political power should be that they possess a sense of decency that is within normal parameters. Don't need saints - just not the kinds of entitled monsters the GOP elevates.
This is some genuinely psycho shit...

they still will want to sell cars in places like California and Japan and Europe and Korea that have emissions standards, though
Trump: "Effective immediately, we are terminating all green emissions standards imposed unnecessarily on vehicle models and engines between 2012 and 2027 and beyond"

the lowest of low-information voters
Q: What do you tell Americans who are concerned that repealing the endangerment finding comes at a host to public health and the environment based on science?

TRUMP: I tell them don't worry about it. This was all a scam. They'll have more money to spend for healthcare.

The GOP has put the federal government on a war footing in relation to cities and states that didn’t vote for them, and then Republicans lament that we seem to be sliding into Civil war. It’s like if a Confederate had been elected president in 1860 and immediately started invading Northern cities.

It’s truly fucked up that the government regularly refers to actions it’s taking on American soil using military terms like “surge” (as in, the Iraq troop surge of 2007) and “Operation Midway Blitz” as in the Blitz of 1940, when the Nazis attacked Britain.
Homan in Minnesota: "I have proposed, and President Trump has concurred, that this surge operation conclude. A significant drawdown has already been underway this week and will continue."

Rhetorial question but how is it ice's job to go after agitators
He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

Well, I couldn't put it down. Recommended!
I don't know why BLACK RIVER ORCHARD is on sale for two bucks at your favorite electronic bookmonger, but it is, so if you want a story of suburban folk horror (shut up it is too a thing) where a creepy cult of apple-eaters take over a town and begin, um, changing? Welp, go forth and get after it.

Also, Democrats, DO YOU KNOW WHERE THAT HAND HAS BEEN???
Democrats, do not be fooled. If you cave and approve DHS funding, they’ll be back and worse than last time. Republicans keep showing you their hand, stop shaking it.

Trump sees unpredictability as some kind of superpower, but realistically it's exactly the opposite. Rather than creating an environment conducive to investment, he makes it so businesses can't rely on any policy to make decisions, because he might change it because someone gave him a phony award.

it's a weird week when I have agreed with two Kentucky Congressional Republicans
Rand Paul to ICE officials on Pretti's killing: "Because people within the government made conclusions immediately that he was a terrorist and an assassin, people aren't believing that it's gonna be an honest investigation ... there has to ultimately be repercussions ... it's inexcusable."

The El Paso story is a perfect little slice of Trumpism. You take the combined incompetence of our Dep'ts of Transportation, Defense & Homeland Security and create a major public safety risk, shut down a major airport, alarm our neighbors that we are about attack them & shoot down a party balloon.

I don't know if it's really clear, outside of coverage of Mpls and pockets of organizing elsewhere, that hundreds of thousands of people are actively and at every level of society fighting our government as it abducts and imprisons and torments our neighbors.
