There’s a lot of very good stuff about cancer screening in the news at the moment - but I just wanted to remind you all that there is no routine screening for ovarian cancer.

Therefore it’s really important that we know the symptoms so you can ask your GP if you think you might have it. 1/?
Cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube or peritoneum usually causes symptoms that are similar to common non-cancerous conditions. This can make it difficult to diagnose early. If you have any of these symptoms or get these symptoms regularly, your GP should offer you cancer tests: • a long-lasting bloated or swollen tummy • feeling full quickly when you eat • loss of appetite • pain in the lower tummy area or back • peeing (passing urine) more often than usual • needing to pee urgently (feeling like you cannot hold on). Other symptoms may include: • a change in your normal bowel function (diarrhoea or constipation) • weight loss for no obvious reason • unexplained or extreme tiredness (fatigue) • vaginal bleeding after the menopause. If you are aged 50 or older and develop symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for the first time, you should also have tests. IBS can cause bloating and after the age of 50 and changes in bowel function. But it does not usually start after 50. Symptoms of ovarian cancer No appetite/ feeling full quickly Needing to wee more Bloated tummy Tummy pain If symptoms are persistent, ask your GP about ovarian cancer.

FINALLY GOT IT!

I've taken well over 100,000 pelican pictures, maybe 200,000.

Over 20,000 the past month alone.

Today, I snagged "The One That Got Away"

a pelican with their mouth open, and two fish are above to fall into their pouch, but one is above another and may take a path out the pelicans mouth is closed, and there's a fish out the pelican looks at the camera, miffed, the fish is far away from its head at this point the pelican opens its beak and tries to go for it, but i can report back it failed, the fish was long gone

I was taking the bins out today when I noticed a juvenile Eastern Spinebill in the garden. I rushed back inside to grab my camera and was happy to find the bird still there when I returned.

I’ve posted this before but the light was perfect today- a little Victorian cat paw in a brick at the front of the old Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. As this is on the front-facing corner of the main gates, the bricklayer quite clearly put it there on purpose, at a height where children would spot it.
