So maybe the problem wasn’t with the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics?

I’ve spent a good chunk of my career relying on American science and engineering to keep me alive. Yesterday, RFK Jr. testified at the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. It was sad to see him try to destroy the life’s work of so many American scientists. He shouldn’t be in this job.

This is kind of what it feels like to live in a crazy family where there’s all sorts of weird stuff happening and you’re expected to pretend like everything is fine and normal.

Been saying this for awhile:

RFK knows vaccines work. He just doesn't think they're worth it because he's a deeply twisted individual who doesn't think that sick people deserve to live.
Dr. Dmitri Daskalakis, who resigned from the CDC says that RFKJr said he believes that Avian flu should be allowed to "burn through" the chickens and then children and others, so we can propagate a "stronger species". RFKJr believes in eugenics.

RFKJr needs to resign or be fired.

You know who benefits most from antivaccine conspiracy theories as national health policy?

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

A reminder: FEMA is no longer going door-to-door to assist disaster victims

[From our Climate Desk partner @wired.com]
FEMA will no longer go door-to-door to assist disaster victims
The move, says one agency worker, will “severely hamper our ability to reach vulnerable people.”

Since 1980, there have been over 400 weather disasters in the US, with total damages over $1 billion.

These disasters have cost $2.9 trillion in total and killed nearly 17,000 people.

Don't tell me we "can't afford" to address the climate crisis.

The truth is we can’t afford not to.

The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 called for dismantling the NOAA, which provides warnings of natural disasters, such as the deadly floods in Texas. The irony is that Heritage wanted these cuts because it’s angry that NOAA helps prove the reality of climate change--the thing causing floods.
