2027 : Jean Michel Blanquer est élu président de la République.

Le lendemain, il part pour Ibiza pour choisir son premier ministre.

Trois semaines plus tard, il envoie une serviette papier avec le nom « Manuel Valls » gribouillé dessus.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

I hate this. transparent example of how these self-serving comemierdas make a point of appropriating the language around every effort towards strong pluralistic humane societies, not only using it to attack those efforts but diluting it in hopes that it can't be used for its original purpose.
"Countries with state subsidies for abortion, transgender-friendly policies for children, hate speech laws and affirmative action policies will now be considered to be violating human rights under rules imposed at the [US] State Department..."

There has literally never been a universal basic income trial program that didn't deliver real and measurable results above and beyond any other form of social welfare, and every time another concludes with the same findings the powers that be go "interesting! Anyway," and pretend it wouldn't work.

Finnish social workers at every conference for the past 18yrs: so, housing first works like 98% of the time

Every other country: well we prefer punishing the poor/ailing/migrant, so
every time a community tests ubi or free housing for the homeless the result is always "holy fuck this works incredibly well and costs less than existing solutions!" and then every politician alive does this

LLMs have democratized the Howard Hughes character arc
I've written about "disordered counterpublics" groups that reinforce shared delusions Here, the LLM becomes a 1 person counterpublic. It mirrors assumptions, absorbs contradictions, & provides the sense of a responsive, confirming audience.
It is the architecture of disordered discourse, automated.

I promise you that about one month after the AI bubble collapses into a gravitational singularity, companies like Apple will now be up-selling their new, AI-free software as some great solution to a problem they DEFINITELY didn't cause.
Not satisfied with just destroying their own brand goodwill, OS companies are now using AI to try to destroy the good names of the apps users install. (Scrivener taking out adds to explain how it has no AI but Apple adds some anyway.)

Isn't it just fucking incredible that we don't all think this is true?

Just blows my mind. Not a single person should be hungry or without a safe living space.
we should feed everybody actually

all the time

there is no reason for anyone to be hungry and/or homeless

The Cornell university library has digitally added more than 76000 books to the Internet archive

They are available to everyone without logins or payment

I’m unaware of what is the licensing involved but I’m assuming a form of commons

This is huge

Child marriage is heinous, but one thing I never see brought up in those discussions is that if you are under 18, you cannot file for divorce. If you are under 18 and married to an adult, they are your legal guardian and make decisions for you. That is not a partnership.
